Psychotherapy in Bella Vista and North Sydney

Long-term psychotherapy that looks at the whole of you.

For when a few sessions only scratched the surface. We work with individuals, couples and families carrying complex trauma, relationship patterns or experiences that deserve more time, with sessions shaped around you, not a set number.

A clinic built to look beneath the surface

Blossoming Minds Therapy is a long-term, trauma-focused psychotherapy clinic in Bella Vista (Norwest, Hills District) and North Sydney, NSW. Founded in 2019 by Hitika Bhatia, our team works with individuals, couples, children and families, including complex trauma and domestic and family violence. Start with a free 15-minute video call with two or three matched clinicians.

Hitika started the clinic after stepping away from a medical path that treated symptoms rather than their roots. She wanted a place where people are seen as a whole, not as a diagnosis.

We are honest with you. If we are not the right service for what you are carrying, we will tell you and help you find who is. We also work alongside GPs, psychiatrists, family lawyers and support services across Sydney.

You don't need to trust us straight away. Read about our clinicians and ask us anything before you decide.

What makes our care different

Three things that shape every session with us.

Sessions shaped around you

Session length and frequency are tailored to what you need, from around 30 minutes to two hours, and adjusted as the work unfolds, for as long as it needs.

Clinicians who are cared for too

Our clinicians receive regular training, supervision and support for their own therapy, with no pressure to meet targets. Steady, well-supported practitioners are what deep work needs.

Care that includes your GP

We work closely with GPs and the multidisciplinary team at Ruach Holistic Health. With your consent, we check in on your physical wellbeing too, such as your blood pressure before a session, so we can adjust the work on the day and make sure the right practitioner follows up with you.

How getting started works

No forms, no pressure. Just a conversation, at your pace.

1

Reach out your way

Call, text or email us, or ask your GP to refer you, whichever feels most comfortable.

2

A first conversation with our team

One of our clinicians speaks with you to understand what you're carrying and what you're looking for.

3

Meet two or three clinicians, free

You meet a small group of matched clinicians on a free 15-minute video call, and choose who feels right. If we're not the right service, we'll tell you honestly and help you find who is.

4

We take care of the paperwork

If you may be eligible for funding, our team helps with the application. With your consent, we brief your other practitioners so you don't have to retell your story.

5

Your work begins

Sessions are shaped around you, in Bella Vista or North Sydney, for as long as the work needs.

Questions people often ask us

What is the difference between psychotherapy and counselling?

Counselling usually focuses on a current challenge over a shorter time. Psychotherapy goes deeper and runs longer, helping you understand where patterns began and how past experiences shape how you feel and relate today. Our work is long-term psychotherapy, shaped around the whole of you.

Do I need a GP referral or a Mental Health Care Plan?

No. You can contact us directly, and GP referrals are always welcome. If you have a GP, we'll ask about them early on, because working alongside your GP is part of how we care for the whole of you.

What can I do when my Mental Health Care Plan sessions run out?

Many people come to us when their Medicare sessions end just as they start to open up. With us, there is no set number of sessions. We'll talk through your options, including any funding you may be eligible for, on a free discovery call.

Can you help me apply for Victims Services counselling?

If you may be eligible for the NSW Victims Support Scheme, our team can help with the application so you don't have to face the paperwork alone. We can also talk through NDIS, WorkCover and CTP funding.

How long does psychotherapy take?

It depends on what you're carrying and what you'd like to change. Some people come for a season; others work with us over years. Sessions run from around 30 minutes to two hours, and together we'll regularly check the work still feels right.

Is psychotherapy covered by private health insurance?

Most private health funds offer rebates for our sessions, depending on your level of cover. A few funds do not, so we recommend checking with yours, and we're happy to tell you which ones we know of.

Can I contact you by text or email instead of calling?

Yes. If a phone call doesn't feel right for you, you're welcome to text or email us instead, whichever feels most comfortable.

You deserve care that sees the whole of you.
